If you’re only here for the plants and gardening, skip this post. But on this New Year’s Day I’m looking at the offerings on selected television stations and thinking about what they are telling us about 2020. I’m looking at some listings for Prime Time on New Year’s Day 2020, and this writer’s humble take on what this programming is telling us about the year to come.
PBS – Nature and Great Performances Look at the natural world or stay in the theatre…anything else will disappoint you, or worse.
CBS – Evil, Evil, Evil Try and deny it as you will, but there are dark forces at work.
ABC – The Goldbergs, Schooled, Modern Family, Single Parents, Stumptown Take refuge in clichéd television people, because sitcoms and TV dramas keeps things simple and makes sure it all wraps up in 30 to 60 minutes.
Fox – Flirty Dancing, Almost Family, Fox News Headline from Exquire: “Flirty Dancing is Proof That America Can Suck the Fun Out of Anything” Nuff said.
Almost Family – An IVF gone wrong series.
Fox News – If you’ve already drunk the Kool-Aid, nothing will convince you. If you’re still thinking for yourself, you’re not watching anyway.
NBC – Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D. The future is in the midwest.
MSNBC – Dateline Old true crime that distracts everyone from what power they might really have to make things better in this world.
HGTV – Dream Home, Property Brothers, 100 Day Dream Home The only thing anyone should be focusing on is an “open concept” and updated kitchens or baths.
Hallmark – Christmas movies…it doesn’t matter which ones. Live in the past.
HBO – Shutter Island and The Town Criminal intentions or actions all come back to the women involved.
Showtime – Little Women and On the Basis of Sex Are woman really powerful, or are we just giving this idea lip service so they’ll start to be quiet?
E – Sex and the City – See Showtime, above.
