Hydrangea Happiness Makes the Front Page!

Apr 1, 2026 | Hydrangea Happiness

Wow! Not only did the cover of Hydrangea Happiness make the front page, but we learn that HI is replacing AI. Read the story:
Move over, AI…there’s a new intelligence on the block, and it’s capturing the hearts of green and black thumbs alike. Hydrangea Intelligence is the latest tool that is shaking up the horticultural world .
Developed by a team of graduate students at Cornell School of Plant Sciences, HI looks at everything through the lens of Hydrangeaceae.
“If you want what you’re writing to change color with the pH of the paper,” says Yad Sloof, a garden writer who is a member of GardenComm International,” or if you want the art that you’re producing to be big, bold and long-lasting, then Hydrangea Intelligence is for you.”
“HI promises to completely change how people think of their robotic tools,” Sloof continues. “How the team at Cornell managed to cross Hydrangeas with computers is a mystery to me, but since it’s organic, I’m all for it!”
The downside of this new technology is water usage, so people should be prepared to take the “hydra” seriously…

In the same issue, C.L. Fornari denies that the paper is a First of April hoax.
“An April fool?” responds C.L. Fornari when questioned by reporters from Hydrangea Times. “Absolutely not. Had you checked my blog posts at GardenLady.com on April first over the past few years you’d know that this paper is totally on the up and up.”
Yet upon review of that blog, this reporter discovered posts about BarkCoin, which is supposedly a plant-based form of currency. There was a blog about gnomeinkulture, a garden practice that is like hugelkulture but uses gnomes buried in the soil, and another claiming that a well known producer of shrubs has bred an actual money tree.
In 2019 Fornari claimed that someone in Wisconsin had planted many sunflowers and these lit up the yards and gardens of the neighbors to such an extent that no sleep was possible. And on April 1 in 2020 Ms. Fornari said that she was starting a new radio program called Garden Lie.
When asked about these posts C.L. wouldn’t comment, but readers of this paper have nevertheless expressed enthusiasm for Fornari’s Virtual Book Launch on May 1st.

This reporter has a call into the Brandeis University Press, the publisher of Fornari’s book. Watch this website for updates.
