Name: Pineapple mint aka Mentha suaveolens ‘Variegata’
Type of Plant: A pretty herb with white and green leaves. This mint grows quickly, so it’s perfect for a pot on your deck or patio.
Why I Love/Hate this plant: I love how fresh looking this plant is, and I also appreciate the combination of a mild mint and pineapple flavor and fragrance. This is the perfect plant for herb gardens in containers and it’s useful for garnishes, teas or cocktails.
A Word to the Wise: This is one of the mints that can spread so enthusiastically that it might take over a raised bed or in-ground herb garden. But what I can tell you from experience is that if you have a spot that is lean soil without regular irrigation, this mint can be fairly well behaved.

One small mint bought in the spring will grow to a large plant like this in mid-summer.
Will definitely buy this for the deck next year.
