Imagine: You need a groundcover for a sunny slope or similar dry area. You want it to be very low, fast growing but not invasive. Impossible? Not at all! You need Thymus praecox ‘Albiflorus’ – white moss thyme
Name: Thymus praecox ‘Albiflorus’ – white moss thyme
Type of Plant: Very low-growing, perennial thyme for full sun. This variety is quick to establish and grow…less than an inch high but growing quite wide.
Why I Love this plant: There are times when we need a very low, attractive and not-invasive plant to be the “socks and shoes” for taller plants. Or we need a plant that’s going to do well on sunny slopes, or in dry gardens. For all of these situations and more, we need white moss thyme.
A Word to the Wise: Don’t plant this perennial thyme in places where it’s wet, especially after Thanksgiving. You’ll want this perennial to have plenty of full-sun and good drainage.
Hi C.L., Would this white moss thyme bloom all summer?
No, like most early-summer blooming perennials this plant only flowers for 3 weeks at best. Still, a great low growing thyme!
