A Postcard From Biennials

Oct 17, 2026 | Postcards From Plants

My guest on The Garden Lady on October 17th was Leslie Halleck, author of Home Greenhouse Revival: Growing Year-Round Foliage, Flower and Food.

Although I dream of having a greenhouse, my seed-starting shed does the job from March into June. It is insulated and solar-heated. The pots on the back wall act as a “heat sink” that captures the warmth of the sun during the day and releases it at night. We’ve put data-loggers in this shed and know that starting in mid-February it doesn’t go below freezing indoors, no matter how cold it is outside.

If you want a signed copy of Leslie Halleck’s book, go to her website.
